We currently seeking a senior (Adult over 21) Animal Attendant at our Cornubia location.
Animal Attendant
About the Role
We are currently seeking passionate Senior Animal Attendant (Adult aged 21 or over) to join our award-winning Pet Resort at our Cornubia location. We have both casual/part-time position available, working between 10–30 hours per week.
Shifts are rostered fortnightly across weekdays, alternating weekends, and public holidays, with extra availability required during school holiday periods, especially Easter and Christmas.
Key Responsibilities
As an Animal Attendant, you will:

Care for our boarding pets (primarily dogs and cats)

Feed, bath, and exercise animals
-
Maintain spotless kennels, cattery areas, and play spaces
-
Check pets in and out, ensuring accurate records and warm farewells
As you progress, you may advance to a Reservation Specialist role, which includes:
-
Managing customer enquiries (phone, email, and in-person)
-
Handling bookings using our software system
-
Delivering exceptional customer service at every interaction
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
-
Formal qualifications are not essential, though Certificate III in Companion Animal Services is highly regarded
-
Prior experience in boarding kennels or animal handling is essential
To Be Considered, You Must:

Be a genuine animal lover who enjoys working with dogs and cats

Be physically fit, strong, and confident handling animals safely
-
Enjoy hands-on, physical work in all weather conditions
-
Be punctual, reliable, and eager to learn (training provided)

Hold a current driver’s license and have your own transport
-
Live within 10–15 km of our location

Be available during peak periods, including public and school holidays
-
Have strong computer, phone, and exceptional customer service skills

Traineeships - Animal Attendants
Our School-Based Traineeships in Companion Animal Services (cert 111 ACM 30417) are offered to Year 11 students who are passionate about animals and want to start building a career in animal care working one Friday per week whilst studying year 11 & 12.
Possible career paths include:

Animal Attendant in boarding kennels or catteries

Zoo or animal shelter work

Pet grooming
-
Animal training

Veterinary nursing
About the Role
As an Animal Attendant Trainee, you’ll care for our guests — mostly dogs and cats, with the occasional bird or guinea pig. Your duties will include:

Feeding, exercising, and monitoring pets’ health and wellbeing
-
Cleaning kennels, cattery areas, and play yards
-
Bathing and drying dogs
-
Checking pets in and out
-
Maintaining lawns and gardens (mowing, weeding, tidying)
-
Assisting reception with customer service, bookings, and phone enquiries
Criteria – You Must:
-
Be an animal lover (especially dogs and cats)
-
Be physically fit, strong, and able to handle animals safely
-
Enjoy hands-on, physical work (and not mind getting dirty!)
-
Be punctual, reliable, and eager to learn
-
Have excellent communication and basic computer skills
-
Be available for some work during school & public holidays (including Easter & Christmas)
Experience isn’t necessary, but being confident with animals and having grown up around dogs is essential.
Additional Requirements:
-
Live within 10–15 km of one of our locations
-
Have parental support for transport to and from work
-
Be confident around dogs that may jump up and cats that may hiss
-
Be able to competently handle, bathe, and dry dogs (training provided)
-
Be organised enough to manage both schoolwork and work shifts
Hours & Training
-
One school day per week: working 6-7.5hrs between 7:30am and 5:00pm
-
Additional shifts during school holidays, Easter, and Christmas
-
Certificate III can usually be completed in under 2 years
-
Trainees must complete 750 hours before finishing Year 12
-
Ideally starting in November of Year 10 or start of Year 11
-
Work experience may be offered to shortlisted applicants to ensure suitability
